White House On Drupal

on Tue, 10/27/2009 - 06:01

Someone walked up to the charismatic U.S. President Mr. Barack Obama and asked “Can we have the Whitehouse website on Drupal?” Mr. Obama in his response said “Yes We Can” . . .

Well, jokes apart this is not exactly how it happened, but I am glad it did. This switch of the whitehouse.gov website to Drupal is one of the biggest testaments to the ever-rising success of Drupal as a technology. Drupal is one of the best open-source Content Management System (CMS) available as of today and implementation of Drupal on the White House website is surely going to entice many other Government websites to make a similar switch.

Though this move will not have a direct impact on the Obama administrations IT spending, the cost associated with implementing new features and years of time spent on the same would definitely come down as the open source architecture of Drupal has many user contributed modules which the White House can implement to expand its social media campaigns.

So what stops you from Going Drupal?
